A “Default Judgment” is granted when a party fails to appear at a proceeding or does not Answer the Petition in a timely manner. In such an event, a Default Hearing is scheduled and the Court, after ensuring that the other party was properly served and has failed to properly answer within the required timeframe, in its discretion, orders the relief that the Petitioning party requested in his or her Petition for Divorce.
